Hi all,

I thought it would be fun to see in how many languages can we come up with to the phrase: "I love you."

Please state the language first, follow by the translated phrase above.

I will start with:

French :
Je t'aime

German :
Ich liebe dich

now it's your turn.

Another similar topick was created by star called universal PEACE and LOVE

and she was asking people to say the word i love you in different languages and there are a lot of answers there.
But in Greek i love you is s' agapo.

Hi All. I really love languages, and I have learnt a little of French, Russian, German, Spanish italian and a very little swedish and Dutch. So I´d be glad to help in any problem or question as far as I can.
I love you in Swedish is:
Jag älsar dig
(In English we say: Yo Elsa Dey)
In Italian, we can say both Ti amo, or for friends we can say Ti voglio bene, in English say likeÖ tee aamo, or tee volio behneh.
In Russian Ya tibyaa Lyublyu.
Itäs a great topic
Thanks
Ido

Post 16 by season (the invisible soul) on Friday, 25-Aug-2006 4:13:13

hi.
in japanese,

eish deru, "i love you"

this, of course not the correct spelling, perhaps don't have the spelling at all cause Japanese is the same as Chinese, using different carracters from what you know about ABC. but however, this is the most similar pronounceation that i can get with jaws.

Post 17 by eccentric bruin (Generic Zoner) on Friday, 25-Aug-2006 15:36:07

In portuguese it's practically the same in spanish except the pronunciation is different. It's spelled the same: te amo but pronounced "che amo" accent on the o and kind of nasaly.

Post 18 by Puggle (I love my life!) on Friday, 25-Aug-2006 15:42:22

Serbian:
Volim te

Macedonian:
Sakam te

Dutch:
Ik houd van jou

I probably know more (ok, I do know italian, french, spanish, german, english... but that is not interesting), but I can't remember right now.

Properly, Greek is s' agapo, but many people say s' agapao. In any case, uncontracted, it's se agapo. In Katharevousa (really formal) to one person or in the plural it's sas agapo. In koutsavakika (a type of slang) it's se goustaro. Really similar to I like you, but used affectionately.
